July is the heart of summer in Montreal—parks, outdoor patios, festivals… We’ll be spending time outdoors, enjoying the (very) hot summer days, and going to the movies a lot.
Summer is short, so we’ve put together a bucket list to make the most of it—here.
June 25–July 4: Montreal Jazz Festival

July 2 and 3: “Summer Romances” Film Series at the Cinéma Moderne
Fall in love all over again this summer on the big screen at Cinéma Moderne.
Le Cinéma Moderne presents the “Summer Romances” film series from June 19 to July 3, 2026, featuring a selection of classic and contemporary romantic films (A Summer Tale, Bonnie and Clyde, Moonrise Kingdom, etc.). Regular tickets are $12.

July 7, July 21, July 28: Movies by the Pool at Parc Jean-Drapeau
2 and under: free /nn3–13 years old: $6.96 /nn14 and older: $13.92
The films will be screened at dusk, and while waiting for twilight to fall, Montrealers can adjust their floaties and colorful foam pool noodles in the pool. And, of course, make sure to keep their bag of popcorn dry.
For six special nights, the pool at Parc Jean-Drapeau’s water park will become an open-air movie theater. It will take place every Tuesday between July 7 and August 25, 2026.

This year, Aire Commune is partnering with Idolem Yoga Studio, known for its hot yoga classes and its many locations throughout Montreal and on the North and South Shores.
Hot yoga classes are all the rage—they’re held in a heated room and are sometimes followed by a cold bath or a cup of tea. It’s great for your abs, and there are several intensity levels (solar or lunar, and on a scale of 1 to 5) for beginners and experienced yogis alike.
For the free classes offered on Wednesdays at Aire Commune, the sun will transform a classic yoga class (open to all levels) into a hot yoga class.

July 16–19: Chợ Đêm
Following the YATAI and POCHA food festivals, Bassin Peel is hosting the large Vietnamese street food market Chợ Đêm.
There will be vendors selling traditional dishes, complete with plastic chairs and silk lanterns to set the mood, as well as artisans, performances, and workshops every day.
For Hanoi-style egg coffee, dried mango, ceramics, and conversational Vietnamese workshops, we’re setting aside a day to spend at the festival this summer.
After dark, during the warm summer months, we’ll also be able to attend free film screenings that will make us smarter.
Between June 25 and August 28, 2026, Funambules Médias is organizing “Cinéma sous les Étoiles” (Movies Under the Stars)—43 films or short documentary programs screened in Montreal’s parks.
The “Cinema Under the Stars” lineup features a selection of social documentaries and short films (on social issues), and the chance to watch them as a community—alongside all the intellectuals in the neighborhood—is pretty great.

This summer, catch cult indie films under the stars in the Livart courtyard.
Le Cinéma Public and the Le Livart art center present Bleu Soir, a series of independent film screenings held in the inner courtyard of Le Livart in Montreal. The series runs from June 14 to August 24, 2026; admission is $16, and the Dieu du Ciel! brewery will operate a bar during the evenings.

A little tropical paradise just 45 minutes from Montreal—perfect for cooling off all summer long.
Saint-Zotique Beach, 45 minutes from Montreal, offers white sand, straw umbrellas, a beach bar, pedal boat and stand-up paddleboard rentals, as well as summer events; admission is charged via daily tickets (adults $6, children $3).
There will be 39 shows presented at the Théâtre de Verdure this summer, right after sunset. As the sun goes down, the shows will begin (at 8:30 p.m. or 9:00 p.m.) on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings through the end of August.
During the summer of 2026, there will be special evenings co-presented with Vues d’Afriques, Les Francos de Montréal, the Consulate General of France in Montreal, and the International Lindy Hop Championship.
There will be a children’s concert by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, a dance performance titled “Burn, Baby Burn,” circus acts… the full program is here!
