These past few days, the weather in Montreal has been swinging back and forth between hot and cold; our throats feel scratchy, and we put on and take off jackets and sweaters fifteen times a day . Spring, which arrived a little late, is going to be a bit longer than usual.
But on hot days, the air is heavy with humidity like in the middle of summer, the sun is scorching, the wind is gentle; it’s tropical. We’re in for a hot summer, and to survive the summer in the city—especially for those who work among the downtown skyscrapers—we’ll have to slather on sunscreen and head to a white-sand beach for a swim.
Luckily for Montrealers, we can lounge under the straw umbrellas at Saint-Zotique Beach all summer long.
Saint-Zotique Beach, the warm water, and the tropics
Saint-Zotique Beach charges an entrance fee, but it’s as immaculate as a Club Med beach. You have to know what you want—and if you go to this beach, you want the cabana beds, the beach club-style music, the sand raked every morning, and the inflatable games for the kids. If you prefer wild beaches, this is the place.
There’s a bar with a terrace and music, straw umbrellas, pedal boats, and paddleboards for rent. This summer, there will also be special events—”Hot Fridays,” DJ sets, and a barbecue festival from August 13 to 15, 2026.
