June 2026 is going to be rainy and not very summery in Montreal. Rain has never stopped Montrealers, and since the news likes to be a bit dramatic for more clicks, we’re going to take a closer look at the weather forecast.
In June, we’ll officially transition into summer on June 21, the summer solstice. Before that, it’s still officially spring. That means keeping a trench coat, an umbrella, and a pair of rain boots within reach—but we’ll still need a good layer of sunscreen in Montreal in June.
Weather Forecast for June 2026 in Montreal
The word “forecast” comes from the Latin praevidere (literally: “to see ahead”) and first came into use in the French language in the 13th century, during the Middle Ages. The meaning of the word, originally “the act of forecasting,” has evolved over time to encompass “the thing that is forecast.” All this is to say that weather forecasts aren’t set in stone—it may rain more or less, or it might even be sunny.
Météo Média cites the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which predicts the return of El Niño to the skies over Quebec in June. This is a weather phenomenon caused by a thermal anomaly in the equatorial waters of the Pacific Ocean. In short, it will be very hot in Vancouver and below seasonal norms in Montreal.
Due to El Niño, the arrival of “feels-like” summer—with consistently high temperatures between 23 and 25 degrees—is shifting from mid-June to the end of the month. Don’t panic; it’ll still be summer by the end of June 2026. It has to be, right?
Here are some figures for what’s expected in Montreal in June:
- between 8 and 28 days of rain
- between 2 and 20 days of sunshine
- highs ranging from 12 to 23 degrees Celsius
- 180 mm of rain
