In Montreal, cultural outings aren’t just for grown-ups! What if your baby’s very first concert took place in an Art Deco setting, surrounded by thousands of candles? Candlelight Babies is coming to the 9th, right in the heart of downtown, starting December 13, with a gentle take on the famous candlelit concerts. Here, there’s no need to whisper “shh” every five minutes: coos, wiggling little feet, and cuddles are all part of the experience. The waiting list is open, and music-loving parents have a wonderful discovery to make.

What is Candlelight Babies?
Candlelight Babies is a 45-minute live classical music concert designed for babies aged 0 to 36 months and their parents, by the light of thousands of candles. The great masterpieces are played softly, adapted for little ears, and no one expects your baby to sit still: on a padded floor, they can move around, play, or snuggle up to you while you settle in on a tatami mat. Much more than just a concert, it’s a first shared memory.
Where does Candlelight Babies take place?
Perched on the 9th floor of the Eaton Centre, Le 9e is home to one of Montreal’s most beautiful Art Deco venues, inspired by the ocean liner Île de France and inaugurated in 1931, which reopened to the public in 2024 after years of closure. Getting there couldn’t be easier: dedicated elevators depart from the ground floor at 705 Sainte-Catherine Street West; the venue is wheelchair-accessible (and therefore stroller-friendly), and the McGill metro station is just a stone’s throw away.
Since your baby arrived, have your outings been limited to the pharmacy and the park? This concert gets you out of the house, surrounds you with other parents on the same journey, and is usually held in the late morning or around noon, between naps. Sign up for the waiting list to get exclusive access to the presale on October 27, the day before tickets go on sale to the public on October 28. The first concert is on December 13!

And let’s be honest: between diapers, bottles, and all-too-short nights, it feels great to go out somewhere where no one gives you a dirty look because your child is making noise. With Candlelight Babies, Montreal is hosting a concert where little ones finally have a place of their own—without parents having to give up the pleasure of live music.
