Our hearts have been thawing on the kitchen counter ever since the last snow melted from the streets of Montreal, and the city smells of pink lilacs and warm asphalt this week. In addition to drinks on the terrace, sunsets late into the evening, and fresh grass to lie on in the afternoon, Montreal has the romantic feel of a summer romance.
Time slows down, it’s June—the best time of year to fall (or fall back) in love.
At the Cinéma Moderne, from June 19 to July 3, 2026, the first summer film series is romantic. The indie film scene calls it “sappy,” but we don’t want to be cynical this summer when it comes to love. Romance is serious business.
Falling in Love (at the Movies)
The program for the Cinéma Moderne’s Summer Romances series is for all lovers and those who are eager to fall in love;

- for those whose hearts burn with a fiery passion and who want to fall in love to fully satisfy it this summer— Bonnie and Clyde ( 1967), À Nos Amours (1983), and Bye Bye Love ( 1974)
