We’re right in the middle of the end-of-year festivities, in the liminal moment when we’re burping in our beds, our bellies full and our heads – finally! – resting.
In 2025, of course, we were perfect. But for 2026, we’ve started making a list of good resolutions. In Montreal, there’s so much to do to become as good as we think we are – more athletic, more beautiful, smarter, sweeter…
We have a list of our good resolutions for 2026, and this year, we’re going to keep them all!
Our resolutions for 2026
1 : Learn to skate (for free)
Because we’ve been obsessed with the movie I, Tonya (2017), because we’ve learned to skate with field hockey skates and now want to test our propensity for grace-and because we want to do the Tik Tok trend of skaters stretching out on the ice to Whitney Houston….
We’ll be taking figure skating lessons at the Atrium on 1000.
Winter sessions are 6 weeks long, starting January 5, 2026, and cost $140 for a full cycle.
That gives us just enough time to find a pair of skates and ’80s-inspired blade guards.
Where? Atrium le 1000, 1000 rue de la Gauchetière
When? Session 3 (winter), starts January 5 and 6 and lasts 6 weeks – and other sessions will run throughout the winter, at the rate of one or two classes a week.
How? $140 for a session, and there’s more info here!
2.join a club
Among the good resolutions of Montrealers, we often find a line that wants to connect with others a little more-not by spending more time at the bar, obviously.
But since we’re not all fans of running (and there are plenty of running clubs in Montreal), we can join an art club, a dating club for singles or a social club to make new friends…
We love three of them;
- the Together Club to meet sexy people without the phone
- the Dine & Dish Club, for crafts and cocktails with Montreal’s coolest girls
- Matcha Walk Club to work out with friends who are as addicted to matcha as we are

3.art talk without stuttering
To be more cultured in 2026, small glasses (with or without correction) with stainless steel frames are not enough. You’ll have to go to a museum…
We recommend that you start by marking your calendar for this year’s exhibitions at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. On the program: Chiharu Shiota, a unique collection of Roman marble statues and local figurative artists…

4.run a marathon
If we start running every other day on January 1, 2026, we’ll be ready to run 40km in October, right?
Montreal’smarathons (and half-marathons, don’t go overboard) in 2026 will be on these dates;
- Marathon des Neiges, February 7, 2026 – 11km, 22km, 44km
- BougeBouge Montréal Sous-Terrain, February 8, 2026 – 5km
- Sainte-Justine Winter Triathlon, February 20, 2026
- 21k de Montréal, April 18 and 19, 2026 – 1km, 5km, 10km, 21km
- Run 6h en Coeur, May 2, 2026 – lasts 6h
- Beneva Marathon, October 10 and 11, 2026 – 1km, 5km, 10km, 21km, 42km
- Parc Lafontaine Classic, October 18, 2026 – 1km, 2km, 5km, 10km
- Sun Life Half Marathon at Parc Jean-Drapeau, October 25, 2025 – 1km, 5km, 10km, 21km
5 Keep a diary to get to know yourself better

When faced with a list of more or less realistic resolutions, one can’t help but think of Bridget Jones.
Helen Fielding’s heroine, played by Renée Zellweger in Bridget Jones’ Diary (2001), is an imperfect inspiration for our most deluded New Year’s resolutions.
“Resolution number one: Obviously will lose twenty pounds. Number two: Always put last night’s panties in the laundry basket. Equally important, will find sensible boyfriend to go out with and not continue to form romantic attachments to any of the following: alcoholics, workaholics, commitment phobic’s, peeping toms, megalomaniacs, emotional f*ckwits or perverts.
And especially will not fantasize about a particular person who embodies all these things
Bridget Jones doesn’t really keep her resolutions. But will we keep them in 2026? Will forcing a radical transformation every year really make us happier?
But, by the end of the film, she’s cool and in love and has had an eventful year with a new job and lots of adventures – including a weekend in a castle with a convertible.
And, frankly, a year rich in emotions and experiences is all we can wish for 2026.
6. more chic evenings out
Our resolutions also include sweeter things – long evenings spent with friends, dates that make the heart beat faster, and cocktails in Montreal’s coolest bars…
7.store local
A new year is also a time to get dressed up, reinvent yourself and become more eco-conscious.
For those of you who still order your clothes from Amazon and Shein, we’re not judging you (too much), but we’d still like to introduce you to some incredibly cool Montreal alternatives.
- jewelry brands made-in-montreal
- 10 Montreal designers
- our favorite thrifts, vintage and thrift stores in Montreal

Happy New Year 2026, and we believe you’ll keep the good resolutions you made over the holidays!
