Night is falling earlier and earlier, and the streets of Montreal are slowly turning into icy corridors of wind – we’re walking faster and faster, and getting more and more covered up.
With the first snows, we’ll be threatened with seasonal depression – but we’ve got the formula for not succumbing to late autumn boredom. We don’t hibernate in Montreal!
In addition to our fall bucket list and outings with friends, we’re going to try a new dance class…
We’ve come up with 3 dance classes we’d like to try this fall and winter-and who knows, maybe we’ll get hooked?
Sports classes we’ll be trying out this season in Montreal
1 For those who want to dance like I, Tonya…
Because we’ve been obsessed with the movie, because we learned to skate with field hockey skates and now we want to test our propensity for grace – and because we want to do the Tik Tok trend of skaters stretching out on the ice to Whitney Houston…
We’ll be taking figure skating lessons at the Atrium on 1000.
Winter sessions are 6 weeks long, starting January 5, 2026, and cost $140 for a full cycle.
Registration opens December 3, 2025, and that gives us just enough time to find a pair of skates and ’80s-inspired blade guards.
Where? Atrium le 1000, 1000 rue de la Gauchetière
When? Session 3 (winter), starts January 5 and 6 and lasts 6 weeks
How? $140 for a session, and more info here!
2For those obsessed with the Nutcracker ballet…
It’s never too late to start dancing ballet, and it’s one of the best sports for keeping your youthful tone (and for keeping your feet pointed and your shoulders supple).
To spend the most graceful winter of our lives, and to dance in the school of one of the world’s best ballet companies, we’re taking classes at Studios GB.
These are the studios of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and in addition to being right downtown, there are classes for all levels and at a variety of times. Instead of lunchtime salad-coffee-cigarette, you can take a ballet class… It’s going to be an incredibly romantic season!
Where? Studios GB, 1435 rue de Bleury, 4th floor

3For those who have put Anora at the top of their list of favorite films…

For a winter season even hotter than our hottest summer nights, we’re going to try pole dancing (one of the hardest and best dances for a concrete core at the end of winter) or aerial dance -on danse à Milan Pole Dance.
It’s empowering, it’s right in the middle of the Old Port and it’s a great way to get through the cold season in a very hot way!
Where? Milan Pole Dance, 50 rue Saint-Jacques

and five, six, seven, eight…
