That’s it, Halloween is over (in the rain) and it’s officially the holiday season… Mariah Carey’s sweet voice sings it’s tiiiiiiiiime through all the speakers overlooking Montreal’s shopping streets, snow is expected very soon and some people have already started decorating their front doors with fir wreaths.
And to get us in the mood, to let out our Santa Claus elf or just for those who like to drink cocktails that go with the season, we’ll be dropping in for an aperitif at one of our favorite Plateau cafés-which transforms itself into a “Christmas Tavern” from November 5 to January 11.

Like the North Pole, but with cocktails!
Christmas Tavern’s decor is a mix between the Christmas party scene at the beginning of the Grinch movie, the best Christmas office party we’ve ever been to, and a magical world that almost gives you a headache… But it’s definitely enchanting.

La Taverne has no reservations, and you can enjoy an aperitif in the smell of pizza and candy cane in the reassuring, slightly nostalgic aura of the holidays. For the more courageous, this could be a first date where, even if you have nothing to say to each other, the night will still be quite magical.

You can eat a pizza or a charcuterie board, and drink a seasonal cocktail-with a tongue-in-cheek name, of course!
-
- Chocolaretto
-
- Les Poules Saoules (eggnog)
-
- Forêt Rouge
-
- Vin Hotte (mulled wine)
-
- The Grinch
-
- Ti-Biscuit in the woods, etc…
The pudding chômeur looks quite exceptional, and the gravlax makes us wish it would snow so we could walk the icy streets of Montreal before entering the Taverne de Noël to warm up…
