It’s very, very cold in Montreal these days, so obviously we’re desperately trying to stay indoors as much as possible—with artistic stimulation. We sometimes forget about the McCord Stewart Museum because it’s discreet, made of large gray stones and not far from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, but it has a charm that is very typical of the city . And that’s because it loves Montreal’s culture, artists, and history.
Going to the museum is kind of the sexiest thing you can do in 2026. We had noted in our New Year’s resolutions that we were going to educate ourselves to the point of nausea (in a good way) and visit an exhibition celebrating Montreal culture, the ultimate step in our seasonal intellectualization.
In the winter and spring of 2026, the McCord Stewart Museum is organizing two exhibitions for the love of Montreal. We’re going to see them because we, too, have fallen in love. Bonus for those who take notes…
Montreal 1976: an Olympic event

For the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the McCord Stewart Museum is organizing a temporary exhibition that looks back on the event. Posters, photos, clothing—the Games are revisited in a time capsule and their impact on Montreal (up to the present day) is highlighted. A little history, a little nostalgia, a lot of sweat.
When? March 27 to September 7, 2026
to Mount Royal – outdoor exhibition

To combine culture with a walk in the forest, we’ll visit the outdoor exhibition at the McCord Stewart Museum on Mount Royal. With photographs from the museum’s archives and a little history lesson, we’ll celebrate the 150th anniversary of Montreal’s iconic park.
Starting May 17, 2026 (on Park Avenue, near the Sir George-Étienne Cartier monument and the Beaver Lake pavilion)
And also…

For the love of Montreal restaurants, we can see Au menu: a history of restaurants until October 2026. For foodies and nostalgics, the exhibition tells the story of Montreal’s restaurant scene, from delis to fine dining establishments, including institutions where you can still eat the best fries in town.
Until October 18, 2026
