The A-25, OCTOBER 9–13, 2026
The southbound A-25 highway, including the La Fontaine Tunnel, will be completely closed on these dates (starting at the Anjou Interchange). Northbound traffic will also be closed at night.
We recommend checking road conditions before heading out for a weekend visit with the in-laws…
ACCESS MONTRÉAL OFFICES AND ONLINE SERVICES
The Accès Montréal Offices (BAM) and permit counters will be closed onThanksgiving Monday.
But don’t panic—these services will reopen the very next day, Tuesday, October 13.
For those who prefer to handle their business without leaving the comfort of their living room, the City’s online services remain available. It’s a quick and convenient way to avoid lines, so don’t hesitate to check them out.
MUNICIPAL COURT
The Montreal Municipal Court will be closed on October 12, with the exception of a special courtroom dedicated to appearances by detainees.
If you need to handle any business in person, you’ll have to wait until the next day. However, the municipal court’s online services remain available, so there’s no need to postpone certain formalities.

MONTREAL PUBLIC MARKETS
The markets will be open on Monday, October 12, and we recommend stopping by to pick up ingredients for our family dinner or potluck with friends…
GARBAGE COLLECTION AND RECYCLING CENTER
Good news for eco-conscious residents: all regular collection services—whether for household waste, recyclables, or yard waste—will continue as usual, even on Monday, October 13.
The recycling centers will also be open according to their usual schedule, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you want to get rid of your bulky items, you can easily ask the friends who came to the potluck not to leave empty-handed…
SPACE FOR LIFE
For a quick nature or science outing to help digest your Thanksgiving dinner, you can visit the Biodôme, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium, the Planetarium, or the Biosphere—all of which will be open on Thanksgiving Monday.
We’re still buying our tickets online, because we (and the hyperactive kids) don’t want to wait in line on Thanksgiving Day…

SPORTS AND CULTURAL FACILITIES AND LIBRARIES
Hours for sports and cultural facilities may vary by borough, so it’s best to check before heading there.
You can visit the Loisirs Montréal website or contact the sports centers and cultural centers directly for specific schedules.
Some libraries may also be closed, so it’s a good idea to give them a quick call or check their website.
