It’s officially the start of the spooky season, and to scare ourselves before Halloween – or just to make our hearts beat faster when school starts – we’re obviously going to take a trip to a haunted mansion…
It’s open until August 31, and we’re running to it (because an encounter with a killer clown is kind of the vibe right now).
We’ll take our bravest group of friends, drive 1h20 to Sainte-Calixte’s Complexe Atlantide and scream in terror in their Haunted Mansion. It’s reputed to be the scariest in the region-who’s brave enough to go?
The Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion has 3 floors, a spine-chilling list of recommendations and rules, and a constant repetition of “Have you said goodbye to your loved ones?”.
This is the Manoir’s tenth spooky season, and on the site you can see the promotional video that was shot for the opening. It looks like a fairly classic haunted house, like the ones set up in gyms and community buildings in small provincial towns for teens who want to scare themselves.
Ten years later, this season, the Haunted Mansion is recognized as one of the scariest haunted houses in the country, and a test of bravery for teens who liked to gently scare themselves. For this kind of haunted house, we recommend finding a tall friend – with broad shoulders – to hide behind…
Rules
We’ve got the Haunted Mansion rules, and you’ll have to be careful not to get swallowed up by the Mansion…
- prohibited for children 6 and under, and strongly discouraged for those under 12
- for those 16 and under, the signature and authorization of a parent/guardian is required
- no alcohol or drugs allowed in the mansion
- not recommended for persons with heart condition, epilepsy or pregnancy
- photos and videos prohibited
- the Manoir is not responsible for accidents
Running is also forbidden, and this is perhaps the rule that worries us most…
We add a pair of good shoes (so we can save ourselves by walking fast) and a box of throat lozenges, after screaming all over the building.
