If you want to make the most of the peak of summer and the days that are already getting shorter and cooler, and to spend time on local farms with the kids or just to touch the grass, we’ve got the solution: a corn maze.
Just 30-35 minutes by car from downtown Montreal, or 1h40 by public transport (metro and bus), there’s one of the country’s largest corn mazes – a nostalgic core memory of childhood and the Quebec summer…
Corn, cornflakes,sweetcorn
We’ve written “corn”, but we could also say “corn wheat”, even if the Quebecois term seems to have disappeared from the Internet (unfortunately).
In Quebec, from the end of July onwards, it’ s sweet corn season, which has many names but above all tastes best boiled, rolled in butter, sprinkled with salt and eaten in a backyard bbq or at a block party.
Marineau Farm
The season has begun at Ferme Marineau, an agrotourism farm that opens its fields to the curious and to visitors…
The farm, which was established in 1921, also holds a summer flower festival, a pumpkin patch in autumn and has a market where you can buy their fruits, vegetables and flowers, a café and a crèmerie. It’s a one-stop-shop for the best of the region’s agri-tourism.
And, of course, you can take a stroll through their corn maze…
The farm promises that you can “get lost in a cornfield”, and from the air, the maze looks like a green puzzle you’ll want to get lost in under the sun.
You can also pick your own flowers in the farm’s flowery fields, and picnic at the exit of the maze.
