In August, summer is at its peak in Quebec. Deer flies are installed as queens of the realm, the Perseids fall in a shower of shooting stars, the Sturgeon moon (August 9) marks the first harvests. It’s also the season of Leo in the zodiac, and the month is under the sign of the sun.
Obviously, this makes you want to take a stroll through a field of sunflowers…
An hour’s drive from Montreal, a flower farm offers a day out among sunflowers, wildflowers and berry fields – the perfect mix of agrotourism and sun-drenched serotonin.
Ferme Belle de Coteau-du-Lac
This farm is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and since 2018 has been opening its doors and fields to visitors. First with the Festifleur in July, then with its sunflowers in August, and also with a corn maze and spooky evenings for Halloween.
La Belle de Coteau-du-Lac has built a real fairytale garden in her fields, with a flower village that’s a favorite with kids and influencers alike.
In August, you can pick your own sunflowers, stroll through the corn maze and picnic at the farm. You can also eat at the cantine de Belle de Coteau-du-Lac (with sweet corn on the cob, which is just coming into season) and finish off with strawberries picked in the fields.
