That’s it! It’s officially summer in Quebec. In Montreal, the trees are in bloom and we’ve put away our winter boots. All we need now is to take advantage of nature’s reawakening to make big salads and barbecues with local produce from our most beautiful countryside.
Every Saturday morning, we’ll be able to go to the market in one of the region’s most beautiful mountain villages, Sutton.
Flowers, nuts, honey, coffee
At the Sutton market, you’ll find wildflowers, honey from local beekeepers, fruits and vegetables, locally made eucalyptus mosquito repellent, meat, and wooden bowls crafted by local artisans.
You can also buy ingredients there to make sandwiches for a hike in the mountains.

After a visit to the market, we recommend going for a swim in the “marmites-aux-sorcières,” a series of natural pools carved into the rock by the river, at Sutton Natural Environment Park.

And, during our walks, we also long for a return to the school field trips to the farm of our childhood, to the gentle goats, the mud, and the noisy chicken coops.
The Holy Grail of soft-furred animals (which used to scare us when we were little) is the alpaca—and, of course, an alpaca farm in one of the most beautiful spots in Quebec.
