In the long tradition of people-we-know-who-are-tanned-all-year-round, about a third of Montrealers head for the sun during Spring Break. They say, with a surprised look, “Really? You’re not going to Punta Cana? But why?” And the answer is that Spring Break is school vacation. Unfortunately for many of us, we’re no longer in school, and even if we have children, that doesn’t mean we get time off from work.
And so that our children can get a tan during Spring Break, we’ll take them to the Space for Life. It’s a Montreal classic, a little nostalgic for those who had their first anxiety attack at the Planetarium and for those who had their first Stendhal syndrome at the Insectarium, surrounded by thousands of butterflies.
To the Space for Life during Spring Break
To the Biodôme—a journey into nature

At the Biodôme, kids can explore five ecosystems of the Americas: the tropical rainforest, the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Laurentian Maple Forest, the Labrador Coast, and the Subantarctic Islands.
There are also two exhibitions to see: one with a thousand preserved specimens (Une nature tissée serrée) and one on humpback whales (Mégaceta).
To the Biosphere—a journey into the future
There are story times every day at the Biosphere, and guided tours of the Transformer: Design and Energy Futures exhibition.
On March 7, 2026, there will be a Family Saturday activity on the theme of environmental action and the “dragons of inaction” that slow it down. It’s a bit of an intense topic for children, but it’s necessary for our little eco-warriors. Nature is frozen in Montreal, but we still need to think about protecting it.
To the Planetarium – a journey into space

The Planetarium’s movie schedule is adapted during Spring Break (between 9:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.) so that we can take our children there during the day as if every day were the weekend.
To the Insectarium – culinary journey
At the Insectarium, there’s a big family workshop where you can taste and cook insects.
When? From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, February 28 to March 22, 2026.
To the Botanical Garden – 4-season trip

Between the winter trails and the heated greenhouses of the Botanical Garden, a tour that takes you through the four seasons is organized, and we recommend spending as much time as possible in the “summer” greenhouse.
An art installation also gives us a taste of spring, because we want to celebrate its arrival as early as possible…
Bon voyage!
