While the streets of Montreal have their own poetry of gravel, snow, sunshine, and blue skies in the last months of winter , we still dream of spring coming soon, with its colors and green blades of grass covered with dew.
In the spirit of lying in the grass, the pastel colors of Montreal’s spring flowers, and a little bit of early sweetness, we recommend joining the Club des Mailles to knit while watching SofiaCoppola’s Marie Antoinette.
Le Club des Mailles and Marie Antoinette

This is the second edition of Club des Mailles’ movie-knitting event, anultra-coolcreative leisure clubfocusedon knitting and crocheting. The club was founded by one of the coolest girls in town, Chloé Soldevila, to create a creative space like the one she had when she lived in Berlin.
The Knitting Club meets twice a month for knitting, crocheting, collage, and other events. After a first movie night featuring the filmThe Holiday, Chloé is organizing a second knitting event while watching SofiaCoppola’sclassicMarie Antoinette.

Coppola’s film has now achieved cult status for its gently anachronistic music, candy-colored costumes, and Kirsten Dunst’s exceptional performance as a teenager who becomes Queen of France without ever asking for it. Even if the story ends badly (nospoilers, it’s history after all),Marie Antoinette‘s intense zest for life and epicurean pleasuresmake it the perfect film to watch to boost your creativity.
We recommend choosing wool in pastel shades—fuchsia pink, baby blue, and teal green—for this movie-themed knitting session.
