This new year, we’re going to be a little more eco-friendly, aren’t we? Oh, how nice it’s going to be on the metro – emissions reduced to almost zero, warm weather, colorful encounters that will inspire our next novel…
We’ll start by checking what’s open and closed on New Year’s Day 2026 – Thursday, January 1.
Montreal public transit (bus and metro) schedule for Thursday, January 1, 2026
On the evening of December 31, the STM is extending its schedules on several lines (for a safe ride home after the New Year’s Eve party).
On the Orange, Green and Yellow lines, service is extended by 2 hours. That’s a last departure time of around 2.45 a.m. – not bad for getting home after the party. There will be trains every 8-12 minutes! The Blue line, on the other hand, is keeping to its usual schedule.
Night buses will also follow the usual schedule, and the REM will run all night between Brossard and Deux-Montagnes.
On Thursday, January 1, subways and buses will keep to their usual schedule – because even though we’re a new “we”, the STM is still the same…
Happy New Year! And a Happy New Year to all in 2026!
