In Montreal, the weather is intense – very hot in summer, very cold in winter. But that doesn’t stop us: we adapt.In summer, we go to outdoor movies and park screenings, and in winter we stay warm in our more or less well-insulated apartments – and watch series on the computer.
From August 28 to September 1, we’ll be previewing the series we’ll be binge-watching when the weather cools – at the Montréal Séries festival.
Montréal Séries
This is the first festival in North America entirely dedicated to series, and it’s as much a festival where you can discover series as it is a festival of behind-the-scenes masterclasses on the creation of series.
Every evening, the atmosphere will be festive and the vibe relaxed – this is not a stuffy, anxious festival, with corseted actresses and itchy starched shirts. There will be happy hours before the evening screenings, an XXL red carpet on Emery Street and meetings with professionals.
Masterclasses
There will be 4 major meetings with series professionals during the festival;
August 29: Benoît Louvet, General Manager of CANNESERIES
August 30: Jason Brennan and Sonia Bonspille-Boileau, founders of Nish Media (notably behind Pour toi Flora and Skindigenous) – on the creation of aboriginal series.
August 31: Luc Dionne, writer and director of District 31, Unité 9 and Omertà
September 1: Louis Pare and Romain Côte of Rodeo FX, who will talk about the visual universes of House of Dragons and The Rings of Power.
The series
14 series will be previewed during the festival, including the eagerly awaited ANAON…
“The story takes place in Harz, a fictional village in Brittany. Maximilien Sendac, a major in the gendarmerie, is in mourning after the recent death of his wife. He is asked to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a teenage girl. Meanwhile, his daughter Wendie begins to experience supernatural phenomena, suggesting the existence of forces linked to Breton legends and her own powers. Father and daughter must overcome their differences to confront a threat beyond reality.” – Montreal Series
