It’s Christmas before time in Montreal, and the city will be covered in a blanket of white just before the weekend.
Between Wednesday December 10 and Thursday December 11, 2025, nearly 20 centimetres of snow will fall on the island and the surrounding region, transforming it into a winter wonderland…
Snowfall and seasonal temperatures
Météo Média, Quebec’s #1 weather news source, issued a yellow warning early this morning for heavy snow. The warning, issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, promises between 15 and 20 centimeters of snow from this morning (Wednesday, December 10) until Thursday evening.
These snowfalls will affect the Greater Montreal area and, just today, the Eastern Townships are expecting almost 15 centimetres of snow.
Snow is quite charming. What could cause slowdowns, accidents on the road, incidents of runny mascara and sprained ankles on the streets of Montreal is blowing snow. For Thursday, December 11, 2025, Météo Média is predicting strong winds that will turn freshly fallen snow into blowing snow and greatly reduce visibility in the region.
Finally, Météo Média and Environment Canada recommend that you allow extra time for travel – and that you drive accordingly…
Snow removal, parking and alerts: 311 application
These two days of heavy snowfall are the perfect opportunity to try out the new version of the Ville de Montréal’s mobile application.
The 311 application is free and simple, and will provide Montrealers with all the information they need all winter long.
Firstly, it lists snow clearing operations (which can be followed live on a map). If you register your car, you can also receive alerts when it needs to be moved. And, miraculously, the application also indicates free parking spaces where you can park your car while the streets are being cleared of snow.
You’ll also be able to submit service requests directly from your phone;
- snow-clearing problems
- slippery pavement or sidewalk
- forgotten signage
- collection problems (garbage, recycling)
- manhole problem
- pothole
- signage error during snow removal operation
- graffiti
- defective streetlight
- damaged street furniture
- lack of cleanliness
- problem with mechanical sweeper
To download the application, type 311 Montréal on your iPhone or Android mobile.
Good luck and careful driving!
