In June, Montreal settles into its summer rhythm—more lively and more relaxed at the same time, with endless nights and long mornings spent picking out the best tomatoes at Jean Talon Market.
Here’s our calendar for June 2026: festivals, outdoor cafés, Polish sausages on the barbecue, doomsday movies , and plenty of flowers and a cool breeze rustling through the tree branches.

In June, we’ll officially transition into summer on June 21, the day of the summer solstice. Before that, it’s still officially spring. That means keeping a trench coat, an umbrella, and a pair of rain boots within reach—but you’ll still need a good layer of sunscreen in Montreal in June. Here’s what’s on the forecast:
- between 8 and 28 days of rain
- between 2 and 20 days of sunshine
- with high temperatures between 12 and 23 degrees Celsius
- 180 mm of rain

In a world where the streets are dirty and dangerous in the spring, where the radio is an endless source of anxiety, and where the wind, whipping up clouds of dust, drives you vaguely mad, it’s sometimes a good thing not to numb yourself with sugar and fake happiness. Sometimes, it feels good to spend two hours with punks, weirdos, bad guys, and sadness so deep it becomes grotesque.
From June 5 to 11, 2026, it’s Bleak Week at Montreal’s independent movie theaters.

June 21: Summer Solstice

June 21 is the summer solstice. The summer solstice is an astronomical event caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis relative to the planet’s orbit around the sun. From the equinox (March 20) to the winter solstice (June 21), the Northern Hemisphere—which includes Canada—is closer to the sun’s warm rays than at any other time of the year.
At the mysterious Stonehenge stone circle, the sun passes through the center of the stones to create a truly magical effect on the morning of the summer solstice. The solstice is celebrated by Indigenous peoples in Canada, by pagans in England, by nature-based religions, and by villages in Eastern Europe.
This year, we recommend visiting the Stanstead Stone Circle to soak up the good vibes and the warm rays of the sun.June 25–July 4: 2026 Montreal International Jazz Festival
