On Saturday, February 28, the Montreal Art Center and Museum is calling on artists and film buffs —and those with strong opinions about Spielberg andIndie—to join its Film Club for a screening ofIndiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
The Film Club is brand new, its Instagram account doesn’t have manyfollowers, andwe love its undergroundvibe. Who doesn’t want to spend the long, dreary winter nights debating the artistic and political value of the lost ark with fellow film buffs?
Who wouldn’t want to warm up with a glass of wine and a cheese platter while discussing Indiana Jones’s possibly null and void intervention in the (colonial) recovery of the ark? If he hadn’t been there, would the ark still have melted the Nazis’ faces and disappeared in its beautiful disappearance?
We love Spielberg, we love Indiana Jones, and we’re not against the beret-glasses-black-turtleneck look. If you’re like us, we recommend trying out an evening at the Film Club…

Oh yes! A Film Club!
The Film Club, now in its second film-wine-cheese evening after a special Valentine’s Day screeningof A Separation (2011), is the brainchild of the Montreal Museum and Art Center.
The museum-center is a non-profit organization that has long been screening great films—the kind you discuss over a glass of wine. Organizing these screenings in the form of a club is a stroke of genius, and the cheese platter is the perfect touch to transform a movie night into a deliciously cinematic social experience. Maybe you’ll even find love there?
