This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Festival du Jamais Lu—an ultra-creative, ultra-Montreal theater festival dedicated to new plays that, as its name suggests, have never been read before.
It runs from Friday, May 1 to Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Théâtres des Écuries, and there will be an anniversary performance and 13 staged readings of previously unperformed texts.
Repairing the Transmissions
The theme of this edition is “Repairing Transmissions,” and in the texts to be read, there is much repairing and arguing about the grievances and sorrows of the past (439 Kilometers, I Will Go and Come on Your Graves, Fallen from Me) and the present.
In addition to the evening readings, the festival is celebrating its 25th anniversary with Un quart de siècle au quart de tour— a show running from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. conceived as a “theatrical road trip” that will revisit the festival’s texts since its inception.
