Little round brown birds chirp cheerfully in the bushes lining Montreal’s streets, and yesterday it was almost warm. The streets are wet with melted snow, lovers kiss on public benches, and we hesitate to put our heavy coats away in the back of the closet. March 20 is the spring equinox.
With the season comes renewal, an energy that will push Montrealers to go outside and change their wardrobe, clean their apartments, and try new things. To put their hands in clay, their fingers in money, their eyes in marbles.
It’s time to express your creativity, and we have a list of workshops to try this spring.
March 12: Key chains at the Club des Mailles

For the more traditional, those who want to refresh their wardrobe and those who are nostalgic for scoubidous in the playground…
To reserve, send a DM to the Club des Mailles Instagram account – @leclubdesmailles.
March-April: Knitting Club at Nadia

On Tuesdays in March and April, we can go to Nadia to work on our knitting, crochet, jacquard, and other projects—because creative workshops are also community builders.
No need to make a reservation!
End of March: Italian charm bracelets at Bibelot

It’s Montreal’s first Italian charm bracelet bar—deliciously retro. Bracelets + 4 charms are $30, and additional charms are $4 each.
Wednesday evenings: Sommelier Nights at Joie de Livres

Sommelier means “literary sommelier” at the Joie de Livres bookstore-café, and for those who want to start reading this spring like in a Rohmer film (on the balcony, with a dreamy look and in the midst of a breakup), this is a workshop to get you started.
There is a minimum purchase requirement, but there are special offers on wines, charcuterie platters, and drinks starting at $5. There are 25 spots available, and it’s first come, first served!
