This holiday season, we’re craving nostalgia. Between the fir trees in the cobbled squares of the Old Port and the large public markets that smell of mulled wine and melted cheese, we’re well served in Montreal, but we do have a few recommendations for holiday markets like those in the backwoods of yesteryear…
A 45-minute drive from Montreal, you can take a stroll through the ultra-charming little town of Mirabel and visit its Christmas market over the next four weekends.
The Mirabel Christmas Market
The Mirabel Christmas Market is built the old-fashioned way, with rows of little outdoor wooden huts and a large indoor market featuring over a hundred artisans selling wooden objects, jewelry, knitwear and local produce…
There will also be outdoor braziers where you can sip a hot chocolate between the fir trees, lulled by Christmas music. Mirabel is sometimes referred to as a Montreal suburb because of its proximity to the island (and its airport), but the little town has the charm of a regional village and the same nostalgic holiday atmosphere you’d find further afield, in the hills of the Eastern Townships.
This year, the Mirabel Christmas Market is open every weekend from November 22 to December 14, 2025.
2025 programming
The Mirabel Christmas Market isn’t doing things by halves this year, and every weekend from its opening on Saturday, November 22, 2025 will have a designated theme and color… We know the colors for the first two weekends of the market;
- November 22-23: poinsettia red
- November 29-30: fir green (with a visit from the Grinch)
Of course, there will also be a visit from Santa and Mrs.Claus for the kids. The busiest couple of the season will be taking time out to take photos with the best-behaved little Montrealers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every day of the market.
The jewel in the market’s crown is the horse-drawn carriage on which you can take a ride and spend a few minutes in the shoes of the Little Women (petticoats and family drama optional). We’re still going to put a ribbon in our hair to get there…
