In the city, we’ll be entering the sweet in-between time of summer, when the streets are pedestrianized, the weather is warm but not too hot, and with festivals, pop-ups and concerts, every day is a bit like Saturday – even if you’re working (not too hard)…

July 2: Twin Peaks Show @ SAT
An orchestra will play the iconic music from David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me and Twin Peaks season 1, as part of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
Bang Bang Bar atmosphere guaranteed, and Twin Peaks-inspired costumes are encouraged!

July 3-6: Asian Night Market
At Brossard’s T&T supermarket, more than 40 booths from China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and elsewhere set up shop for 3 evenings.

July 4 & 5: Métropoles family tour and workshop at MAC
In conjunction with the architectural exhibition Les gratte-ciels par la racine (Skyscrapers by the Root), which transforms the city into a miracle of concrete and offers a poetic investigation into 60s modernism in Montreal, we’ll be doing an artistic activity (with air conditioning) with the kids…

A stroll through the city, because Montreal is an island full of poetic nooks and crannies (especially in summer, when the lilacs rain down over the big garbage cans in the alleyways-you get the idea?)-and with photographers, to find the beauty in the city together.

July 5-6: Matsuri Festival
This is the most Japanese festival of the year; a celebration of Japanese culture and gastronomy, with activities and dance performances all weekend long… And if you arrive wearing a yukata, you get in for free!

When? July 5, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., July 6, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
How much? $4 at the door, $3 online until July 4, free for children 11 and under and those wearing a yukata.
July 10 to 13: Plaza Palooza Sidewalk Sale
The sidewalk sale and art fair celebrating the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie community takes over the neighborhood for 4 days. There will be DJ sets every day for this bohemian block party.
Where? At Plaza Saint-Hubert, the street will be pedestrianized from Jean-Talon to Bellechasse.

Just For Laughs, the world’s biggest comedy festival, is synonymous with one of the best times of summer in Montreal. We love a good laugh here, and for over 40 years, we’ve known exactly where to go to do it…

July 16-August 3: Fantasia Festival

From July 16 to August 3, 2025, Montreal becomes the international capital of genre films… After Cannes, before Venice, it’s the place to be.
The festival, which has grown every year since its inception in 1996, has become emblematic of Montreal, of its creative energy, and of its slightly bizarre but innovative films-thanks to the indie film industry!
We’ll be able to see films – most of them world premieres – that we wouldn’t necessarily see otherwise, and refresh our brains and souls with genre cinema that’s bizarre, uncomfortable, exciting, psychedelic, jouissif…

*The Théâtre de Verdure…
Summer nights are a poetic motif, something instantly nostalgic and exalted that we describe over and over again, that we paint, that we obsess over.
The Théâtre de Verdure is at the heart of the City of Montreal’s summer arts program, and from June 4 to August 24 you can see shows and films there completely free of charge.
There are 2,000 seats in an arc around a stage that appears to float on the pond.

Admission is free except for the following 2 events, for which tickets must be reserved:

From June 26 to July 31, it’s the International des Feux Loto-Québec, a fireworks festival that will light up the city’s skies.

*Participate in the Monarch Mission by taking photos of Montreal’s hottest summer butterflies.
Under the direction of the Espace pour la vie Insectarium, the Mission Monarque program was born, which is “a participatory science program that documents the reproductive success of the monarch butterfly”(kinky).
