Montreal is a bit like America, but it’s also one of the most versatile cities on the East Coast of North America. A bit Nordic-Scandinavian, a bit European, a bit like regional Quebec with itspickup trucks, hockey, and that frontier vibe bordering the far north.
According to the stats, there are about 6 coffee shops per square kilometer in Montreal. And one of the most important traditions of North American fall is the pumpkin latte. This fall, there are 5 to try in the city.
AT CAFÉ BRUT

The pumpkin pie latte with cold pumpkin foam at the lovely Café Brut looks extra-decadent—and a little sickly sweet. Like the Griffintown neighborhood, the café is very “shiny” and a bit “over the top”—and for a pumpkin latte, that’s exactly what we’re looking for.
We’ll do some Reformer Pilates first, or we’ll go for a run with our crush from the Run Club we joined this summer.
Plus, the latte is very, very Instagram-worthy.
AT MOONBREW MAGIC

The pumpkin latte at Moonbrew Magic, run by a real witch, is a little bit magical.
In addition to the thriftedblack bikerboots we’re pulling out of the closet, the sudden urge to bleach our eyebrows like Jenna Ortega for the*Wednesday*press tour, and planning weekends togo for walks among the fallen leaves—we want to wrap ourselves in the comforting embrace of a community that has our best interests at heart.
People also go there for a tarot reading, a spell, and a sage latte—the best in Montreal.
AT CAFÉ NOUS SOMMES

The pumpkin latte at Café Nous Sommes is smooth, not too sweet, and truly uplifting—if you get it to go, the cup is printed with “DON’T FORGET TO LOVE YOURSELF.”
It’s a café where you can also buy super-soft socks featuring the best prints in Montreal.
AT NUEVA ERA

The pumpkin latte at Nueva Era is a bit nostalgic, classic, and perfect for the studious among us.
The café also doubles as a charming stationery shop, located on a small cobblestone street surrounded by vintage boutiques and right next to the Cinéplex Odéon Quartier Latin. Head there before—or after—a movie, preferably with a crush, for that “Bridget Jones” vibe of sharing a coffee during a stroll.
AT MELK

The charming little MELK CAFÉ offers a pumpkin latte for a very limited time every fall, and it’s one of the most Scandinavian-style cafés in Montreal.
It’s best enjoyed as a takeout before a stroll, and we recommend pairing it with the gluten-free lemon cookie. And this one, of course, is best sipped under the warm rays of the fall sun.
