Just a half-hour drive from Montreal, you can take a stroll through the narrow streets of a charming village that brings to mind Stars Hollow from *Gilmore Girls* and those nostalgic visions we have of the simplicity of country life.
You can get there by car or public transit—via the EXO 11 train, the 211 bus, or a combination of bus and subway—but the trip takes about an hour each way.
The village of Pointe-Claire is right on the waterfront, with narrow streets lined with slightly quirky houses and trees. It’s the perfect stroll for this fall, with a sweater and a Kodak camera.
OUR FAVORITE SPOTS IN POINTE-CLAIRE
–
CAFÉ LE DEN
A very charming café with fresh bread and pastries baked on-site every morning, large windows that let in the autumn sunshine, and piping hot coffee. Perfect for stopping during a stroll and warming up for a while.
Where? Café Le Den, at 121 Donegani Avenue, Pointe-Claire

POINTE-CLAIRE DELI
For a dose of “small-town” nostalgia and an atmosphere that comes dangerously close to Luke’s Diner from the series GILMORE GIRLS, head to the Pointe-Claire Deli for breakfast—which is served all day long.
We go there early in the morning, or around noon when we arrive in the village. And if we stay, there are sometimes “trivia nights”…
Where? Pointe Claire Deli, at 51 Denegani Avenue, Pointe-Claire

THE LITTLE MILL
The little mill in Pointe-Claire sits on the lake and is a very charming remnant of the European colonization of “New France.” It was built in 1710 and was used to grind grain and make flour.
It’s a pretty European-style postcard scene overlooking the lake.
Where? Lakeshore Road, Pointe-Claire
