The sun is setting earlier and earlier, and in the evening you can feel the cool autumn breeze and sense the coming of long nights. We’re entering a gentle space—a little mysterious, a little mystical—perfect for whispering spells to each other while gazing in the mirror, perfect for falling in love in a bookstore or while shopping at the market on Saturday.
On September 11, 2026, the sequel to the cult classic PRACTICAL MAGIC (1998)—(in French, AMOUR ET MAGIE 2)—hits theaters in Montreal. And to get in the mood, we recommend spending a day or a weekend in the lovely little town of Hudson, in the Montérégie region—just an hour’s drive from downtown.
There, you’ll find Victorian houses by the water, little shops that smell of old wood and sage, and a touch of magic if you know where to look…

OUR SLIGHTLY MAGICAL SPOTS IN HUDSON, MONTÉRÉGIE
Hudson, QC, is a small village on the shores of Lake des Deux-Montagnes—a very pretty lake with beaches, villages, and a small-town vibe that instantly transports you away from the asphalt sidewalks and cold stones of Montreal.
To spend a day or a weekend as if you were one of the Owens sisters, we have a few suggestions.
A WALK ALONG THE SHORES OF LAKE DES DEUX-MONTAGNES
We recommend starting the day with a walkin Jack Layton Park, wearing a (hand-knitted) scarf around your neck and a pair of rain boots. And maybe a fringed shawl and a velvet skirt?
Lac des Deux-Montagnes is one of the prettiest lakes in the area—it’s like a postcard—and if you concentrate, you might just see the face of a love interest who’ll soon come into your life reflected on the lake’s surface.

Sandy Beach, the most popular beach in the area, was recently purchased by the town of Hudson to restore the natural biodiversity along the lake’s shores. You can’t get into the water, but you can feel the lake breeze in your hair.
Where? Jack Layton Park, 392 Halcro, Hudson, QC
A CUP OF TEA AT LA MAISON ROSE, AND A “MIDNIGHT MARGARITA”
For a touch of charm, we recommend having teaat Maison Rose, which looks like it came straight out of PRACTICAL MAGIC. It almost feels like the Owens sisters might walk out at any moment, their arms laden with sage and midnight margaritas.

La Maison Rose is a hotel where you can spend the night in a room with floral wallpaper, read a book in the garden, and enjoy breakfast in the library painted in shades of sapphire.

A VISIT TO THE ANTIQUE SHOP “MA BELLE VIE”
Because a stroll through the utterly charming streets of Hudson is the secret ingredient in our fall spells—for everlasting love, to protect our sisters and mothers, and to achieve Nicole Kidman’s stunning hair from the 1998 film PRACTICAL MAGIC—we recommend a long walk down Main Street.
We also recommend stopping by one of our favorite antique shops,Ma Belle Vie. Each of its carefully selected items is already infused with magic.

A FRAGRANCE LIKE A SPELL TO WEAR FROM LESCENTO
To set our intentions, cast our spells, and smell incredible this fall, we’re heading to the LESCENTO perfume shop.

The perfumes are hand-distilled, with intention and—we hope—a lot of love. The scents are mysterious, with names of spells that could have been cast by the Owens sisters in PRACTICAL MAGIC.
