There will be 15 cm of snow in the coming days in Montreal, and about 15 cm more before the end of March.
We recommend keeping your winter coats and boots where they are during the month of April —in April, don’t take off a single thread…
According to the Farmers’ Almanac, it will rain in April and we’ll see the last snowflakes of winter fall on the grass… It will also be the time when tulips, forget-me-nots, and daffodils bloom—it’s still enchanting, even in the rain.
Weather forecast for April 2026 in Montreal
March 20, 2026, is the spring equinox—so officially, April should be spring-like. Just like in the movies, with a few drops of rain and sunshine, and fresh grass and leaves on the trees….
Unfortunately, Weather Media and Meteorological Service of Canada have determined that spring will be much cooler and rainier than usual this year.
In a few figures, April 2026 will look like this:
- 11 days of snow
- 17 days of rain
- 2 days without precipitation (dry)
- 70% average humidity
- Temperatures between 3 and 11 degrees Celsius
Even though it will be cooler than the seasonal averages, we’ll still see temperatures rise from an average of 8.4°C at the beginning of the month to 13.6°C by the end of the month.
And what about the weather forecast for spring?
According to the Almanac, April and May will be cooler and wetter than usual. At first glance, that sounds like bad news—but it isn’t necessarily a negative forecast.
Yes, there will be more precipitation than in other years. But given that, according to our March forecast, spring will arrive quickly, some good rain (and even a few storms) will be beneficial for the growth of flowers and fruit as summer approaches.
In May, the weather will be unstable and muggy, with sporadic thunderstorms expected.
