Summer, which we had given up on after the gloomy June weather forecasts, has hit Montreal like a ton of bricks, and this week it’s incredibly hot and humid. Temperatures will reach 30 degrees, putting us at risk of violent thunderstorms and torrential rain.
A stormy week
This morning, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, humidity is at 65% and the air is already heavy at 25 degrees. This week, we’ve already seen temperatures peaking at 28 degrees and heat index readings of nearly 30 degrees.
Barometric pressure is through the roof; we’re no longer used to this kind of heat, and Quebec is at the center of a weather mix that threatens us with violent thunderstorms and torrential rain starting tonight. We’re not safe from small hailstones, either.
The weather will remain stormy on Thursday, June 11, and Friday, June 12, 2026, and the air will be electric in Montreal. In addition to heavy rains and thunderstorms, the heat index will range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius.
Tips for getting through this week’s humid heat
To get through the week comfortably, we recommend dressing to stay cool.
- pack a cap, an umbrella, or a (very sexy) plastic poncho in your bag, so you don’t ruin your hair or your outfit if it suddenly starts to rain
- drink plenty of water and add some caffeine (coffee, Diet Coke) to avoid getting a headache from the yo-yoing atmospheric pressure
- wear light clothing made of natural fibers and go for walks early in the morning and late at night, when it’s coolest
- eating ice cream at 4 p.m.
- take a cool shower when you get home
