It’s time for your first Candlelight concert. An unforgettable evening awaits you, but despite your excitement and anticipation you don’t know exactly what to expect. Don’t worry, we’ve prepared 5 things you need to know so that you can go in with your eyes closed(open them during the concert, though – it’d be a shame to miss the thousands of candles) and make the most of the moment.
1. Plan your journey
Even if the venues hosting Candlelight are generally well-located, checking how long it will take you to get there won’t hurt anyone. Firstly, because seats aren’t reserved, only the section, and a good seat always guarantees a good concert. But above all, it will give you time to soak up the magical atmosphere and admire the candlelit venue.
2. Take the opportunity to switch off
Put your cell phones away and enjoy the moment. During the concert, the musicians let you know when you’re allowed to take photos and videos. Not only does this allow you to concentrate on the candles, the architecture and the sweet notes of the musicians, but you’re guaranteed not to have a sea of smartphones blocking your view.
3. Like the urge to croon?
Who doesn’t want to sing the lyrics of your favorite songs at the top of their lungs, or at least hum along with the scores? First of all, we’d like to reassure you that the musicians will be able to invite you to sing along to the best classic. But above all, we recommend that you adapt to the general atmosphere, so that your neighbor enjoys the concert as much as you do, and doesn’t disturb anyone.
4. Find out about the history of the venue
Even if the venues hosting these sublime concerts are up to the task and will blow your mind, knowing a little more about their history will add a little something extra. Some of these places have more than one secret to tell you, and knowing them will give you a little edge once you’ve settled in.
Did you know, for example, that in the name of Église Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, the ” seven pains ” refer to the moments in the Bible that deeply afflicted the Virgin Mary as she supported her Son, Jesus, in his mission of redemption?
5. How to dress?
If you’re in the mood to dress up, or it’s a special occasion, you’re certainly not alone. And make the most of it! But if you’re more comfortable in a good pair of sneakers, that’s fine too. As long as you’re presentable(don’t come in a bathrobe either), just be yourself! It’s your party, after all, so you might as well make the most of it by being comfortable in your clothes!
Now you know everything! Now all you have to do is wait patiently for the big day and enjoy the moment once you’ve arrived. And if you’ve enjoyed the experience(we’re sure you will) and would like to share it with your loved ones, give them a Candlelight gift card and let them choose the concert and evening of your choice.
