With its full name of Le Balcon Cabaret Chic, it’s an essential part of the city’s cultural life.
Candlelight Jazz: MF DOOM & Hip-Hop ft. Lavender Town
Believe it or not, the Candlelight series brings its sea of candles to Le Cabaret Lion d’Or, a chic restaurant and cabaret-style lounge. The Cabaret Lion d’Or is one of the few remaining 1930s cabarets in Montreal. The Art Deco hall hosts launches, press conferences, celebrations,screenings, corporate parties and much more. And if you feel like pulling out all the stops, why not enjoy a pre-show meal in their restaurant serving French cuisine.
The Théâtre Rialto is a former movie palace on Park Avenue. Not surprisingly, it has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada. From its Beaux Arts façade inspired by the Paris Opera to its neo-baroque interior, this former cinema turned performing arts center offers an elegant and grandsetting for galas, trade shows, graduation balls and much more.
The Church of St. John the Baptist is a Roman Catholic church built in 1872. This stunning architectural work, inspired by the Baroque revival, was destroyed by fire in 1898 and 1911, but rebuilt in 1912. As well as hosting a host of concerts and guided tours, this neo-Baroque church is ready to welcome Candlelight’s classical interpretations of iconic musical works.
After 24 years of closure, the legendary 9th, on the ninth floor of the Eaton Centre, reopens its doors to the public. Come and (re)discover its timeless Art Deco decor and architecture, admire its straight, geometric lines, but above all discover this unique restaurant under the soft orange glow of thousands of Candlelight candles.
Located in Montreal’s Verdun district, the church is built in the Beaux-Arts style and rests on an ashlar foundation. Designed by Joseph Venne, it features tall, narrow windows, two bell towers and a neo-Baroque interior . 1,200 people can be accommodated inside this magnificent building, which offers the ideal setting for celebrating some of the most influential compositions and successes of all time.
