The snow is melting, but the wind is freezing in Montreal, and when you look up, the end of winter is confusing and rather unpleasant. Lots of slush, a return to our cocoon of down jackets and sweaters, and not as poetic as we thought it would be. It’s the perfect time to go to the movies.
From space, Earth is sublime and worth saving—and that’s what Ryan Gosling wants to do in Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s film “Project Hail Mary” (2026).
The film will be released in theaters on March 20, 2026, but Montreal has been selected along with a few other North American cities to host a special 70mm screening of the film on March 13.

Hyperspace, friendship, and lots of robots and explosions
The film, starring Ryan Gosling in the lead role, is adapted from the novel of the same name by Andy Weir.
Ryland Grace, a high school science teacher, wakes up alone on a spaceship hundreds of light years from Earth. As his memory returns bit by bit, he discovers a crucial mission to stop the destruction of the sun by a mysterious substance. He is there to save the planet. A friendship with an alien could be the key to completing his mission.
Why is it so exciting to see it in 70mm? Because it’s an analog format that offers a deeper view, more beautiful colors, and old-fashioned projection. And we love seeing a movie before everyone else, right?
