In the summer, we spend all our time on the streets of Montreal. Until the soles of our sneakers practically melt, until we stop every 200 meters to buy a Diet Coke at every corner store around here (and that way, we get to know everyone). And, because we also dance in the streets and have been listening to music outdoors ever since the first leaf sprouted on a tree branch, Montreal is a city of block parties —neighborhood parties.
One of our summer favorites is Plazapalooza —half emerging music festival, half block party. In 2026, it’s the fourth edition, and this year it runs for four days, from Thursday, July 9, to Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Plazapalooza!
During the festival’s four days, there will be a big sidewalk sale along Plaza St-Hubert. The Plaza is a sort of open-air mini-mall right in the heart of the city, home to one of Montreal’s coolest emerging music scenes, the Ausgang Plaza.
Music is a serious business at Plazapalooza. Each day is dedicated to a different music genre, and while we don’t know all the bands that will be playing, we go to discover them.
- Thursday, July 9 / ROCK
- Friday, July 10 / HIP-HOP
- Saturday, July 11 / LATINE
- Sunday, July 12 / FAMILY
On Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., there will be line dancing classes for everyone. There will also be games and face painting for kids, live piano music in the street, booths, and a great atmosphere.
