Monday, October 13, is Thanksgiving Day, and in Montreal, many services will be adjusting their schedules.
From paperwork and last-minute trips to the market to sweater weather shopping…
We’ve got a list of everything that will be open and closed on Monday, October 13;
Accès Montréal offices and online services
Bureaux Accès Montréal (BAM) and permit counters will be closed on Thanksgiving Monday.
But don’t panic: these services will reopen the following day, Tuesday, October 14.
For those who prefer to manage their paperwork from the comfort of their living room, the City’s online services are still available. It’s a quick and convenient option for avoiding queues, so don’t hesitate to take a look.
Waste collection and ecocentres: still on schedule
Good news for eco-citizens: all regular collections, whether for household waste, recyclables or green residues, will continue as usual, even on Monday, October 13.
The ecocentres will also be open as usual, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you want to get rid of your bulky items, you can easily ask friends who came to the potluck not to leave empty-handed…
Sports, cultural and library facilities
Schedules for sports and cultural facilities vary from borough to borough, so it’s best to check before you go.
You can consult the Loisirs Montréal website or contact sports centers and Maisons de la culture directly for precise schedules.
Some libraries may also be closed, so a quick phone call or visit to their websites is recommended.
Espace pour la vie: always open for the curious
For a little nature or science getaway to digest Thanksgiving dinner, we can go to the Biodôme, the Botanical Garden, the Insectarium, the Planetarium or the Biosphère – all of which will be open on Thanksgiving Monday.
We’re buying our tickets online anyway, because there’s no line-up for us (and the hyperglycemic kids) on Thanksgiving Day…
Municipal court: closed, except for emergencies
Montreal’s municipal court will close its doors on October 13, with the exception of a special room dedicated to appearances for detainees.
If you have anything to do on site, you’ll have to wait until the following day. However, the municipal court’s online services will remain accessible, so there’s no need to put off certain formalities.
Montréal Public Markets
The markets will be open on Monday, October 13, and we recommend going there for the ingredients of your family dinner or potluck with friends…
Happy Thanksgiving!
