New year, new personality? January is the month to reinvent yourself, and for those of you who’ve had a horrible year in 2025, it’s the month to start all over again.
We’re going to be prettier, smarter, nicer, more cultured and, above all, better dressed. To be the sexiest, most eco-conscious version of ourselves possible, our look can’t come from Shein (horror).
To get dressed in 2026, thrift store Kapara is staging a giant 5-day event on the Plateau…
Friperie Géante Kapara – NEW YEAR, NEW ME <3
Kapara is one of Montreal’s best thrift stores, and definitely the most girl power. All year round, you can find motorcycle boots, bra-less tops and 1980s organza dresses. Kapara also sells tops and skirts made from deadstock fabrics.
You’ll also find accessories, key rings from the 2000s, woven toques, high-heeled leather boots (impractical for Montreal winters, but very, very chic), skirts unlike any other and sweaters to keep you warm this winter.
It’s also a thrift store that’s committed to fighting the giants of over-consumption and political excesses – so not only can you rebuild your wardrobe the right way, you can also encourage local, eco-responsible commerce.
This isn’t the first of the giant thrift stores organized by Kapara, and while you’ll have to be prepared to queue a little to try on your new finds, the selection is exceptional.
