A little sweetness, a little pain? That’s the Montreal spring experience—under heavy snowflakes, under sporadic rays of sunshine that make our hearts and our mental health go up and down like a yo-yo.
And in these liminal moments between Montreal’s icy winter and its hot, exhilarating summer, we crave ambiguity and want to take a few risks —calculated ones, of course.
For something different (yet reassuring), we recommend booking a spot at the next “Croissant and Tattoo” event at Bar à Beurre pastry shop on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Butter, sugar, ink, porcelain
Bar à Beurre is a Montreal patisserie in the Old Port, steeped in the region’s tradition of absolute devotion to sugar. Macarons, buttercream, chick-shaped meringues for Easter…

Plus, the patisserie offers English-style High Teas with cakes, tea, and cucumber sandwiches. Some time ago, Bar à Beurre began pairing its sweet treats with activities that pack a punch—tarot first, then tattoos.
The “Croissant and Tattoo” event features a latte and a croissant, plus a tattoo inspired by artist Pamela Anne Derson’s flash designs . In the cozy atmosphere of the patisserie, the designs are a bit nostalgic, like tea with a grandmother—a moment that might be a little boring but is often remembered with a smile. There are also flowers, porcelain cups, and birds.

You must reserve your spot by sending a message to the bakery on Instagram to participate in the event.
