During the long night of Halloween, in the good old days when we still communicated with fairies and walked around talking softly to ghosts, we put on masks to prevent evil spirits from dragging us down with them into the depths of Hell…
We lit candles in turnips carved into grinning faces (the original Jack-o-lantern), hid our faces under animal and demon masks with pointed chins, and danced around big fires that kept the darkness of the night away.
But that was before. Today, we still celebrate Halloween by having a party, but without the fear of sinister beings who would do us harm. To party (in costume, anyway) in Montreal through October and November 1, we’ve got a list here!
