The holiday season is a time for breaks, munchies, hot chocolate and episodes of classic Christmas TV shows. Little Montrealers will read the books they’ve received as gifts; The Grinch Who Stole Christmas always comes first.
Parents will play in the snow and build fires in the chimneys. It’s a time for vision boards and hobbies (rocks, Egyptology, herbalism, drawing horses in hyperspace, etc.).
To fill this liminal period of discovery with lots of magic before the long gray months of the rest of winter, and to revisit an absolute classic, we’re taking the kids to Théâtre Outremont to see Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince …
The Little Prince revisited, the fox and the rose
The Little Prince is a book by writer and airplane pilot Antoine de Saint-Exupéry about a prince who lives on a planet not much bigger than he is, with a talking rose. He visits Earth, meets an aviator, hangs out with a fox and talks about life.
It’s a tale of friendship and adventure that’s a cult favorite for its simplicity and childlike spirit.
“The Little Prince is a children’s book written for grown-ups. – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The version of The Little Prince to be presented at Théâtre Outremont is directed by François Ha Van and blends the real and the virtual with a dreamlike graphic universe designed by Moulla of Augmented Magic.
Hoël Le Corre, alone on stage for this augmented and, according to Le Figaro, “miraculous” Little Prince, creates a world with a semi-imaginary, semi-digital version of Saint-Exupéry’s universe.
The show, which had a hugely successful run in Paris, is a must-see during its run in Montreal, for a bit of magic before the end of the holiday season.
