Alexis and Jonathan, the co-founders of LAB 545, are perfectly at ease in the building’s long corridors painted black or white, even though it’s very hot on the day the studios open.
The paint is fresh; the former textile factory (which also briefly served as a hydroponic cannabis farm) has been completely renovated across its five floors.
The 70 artist members of the Belleville Studios have been enjoying the very large shared studios for several weeks now, where everyone works in open spaces, specialized and fully equipped studios (woodworking, ceramics, digital art, textiles, and a black box with sound and lighting equipment).
These spaces are available to permanent members, but will also be accessible with a more flexible membership card soon.
The building is bright, airy, and filled with large windows and artists working quietly. The founders’ community-oriented vision is palpable, creating a calm atmosphere that’s very conducive to creativity, a bit like a summer camp. You’ll want to spend the day there—and maybe even paint a landscape.

On the first and second floors of the building, you can see an exhibition featuring works by the member artists. SIGHT+SOUND
The digital art festival began last night, June 11, 2026, and concludes on the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2026, with a party.
In addition to exhibitions by member artists of the Ateliers de Belleville, the SIGHT+SOUND festival showcases the work of digital and musical artists with cocktails and, as the icing on the cake, Peter van Haaften and Garnet Willis’s work Air Prism No.1 on the rooftop—a wooden musical structure that sings with the wind.
