Cadillac cars are synonymous with America—big cars in pastel colors, sleek, stylish behemoths that can cruise across the Nevada desert and the roads of Southern California. Beyond Cadillac’s charm, it’s also a brand of cars that can go very, very fast.

This weekend, Cadillac will participate for the first time in the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal. To discuss this first race in Canada, we were able to spend some time with F1 driver Valtteri Bottas, who will be driving for Cadillac this weekend.
Valtteri Bottas, Cadillac, and the Canadian Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas has competed in 240 Grand Prix races, stood on the podium 67 times, and holds the lap record at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. He is also one of the sport’s most beloved drivers and a fan of Montreal. He describes it as a “fun city” with a very cool café scene and a great place for outdoor sports.
When he’s not driving, he goes cycling with his girlfriend, who is a champion cyclist. They even organized their own race in Adelaide, Australia.
Regarding the Montreal circuit, Bottas also says it’s fun —technical, bumpy, dusty, a bit dirty. Not easy, but fun. Clearly, Valtteri Bottas is a fan of a challenge, and racing with Cadillac—a classic automaker but one just getting started in Formula 1—is “the best place to be at this point in [his] career.”
