Cosmically, the next few weeks are packed with events in a calendar that moves from the longest nights to the return of light.
From the winter solstice on December 21 n, the days officially begin to lengthen and we enter winter. If it’s going to be long and icy, we’re heading for spring and the warm sunshine we’ve already forgotten about in the streets of Montreal.
Just an hour and a half’s drive from the city, we’re celebrating the holidays at the meeting point of light and shade. For a rather mystical stroll between Christmas and New Year’s Day, we’ll take a torchlight walk through the Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerises…

Fire, light and Bailey’s
For its torchlight walk, the Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerises – a very nice walk to do when you’re in Magog – has set up a hundred torches along about 2km.
The walk lasts about an hour, and afterwards (or during) you can enjoy a hot chocolate with or without a drop of Bailey’s – to warm up – offered with the price of the ticket at the entrance to the park trails.
Obviously, it’ s going to be cold during this period, so bundle up the kids and don ‘t forget snow pants, boots, tuque and mittens for everyone.
