During the long Halloween night, back in the good old days when we still communicated with fairies and walked about whispering to ghosts, we wore masks to keep evil spirits from dragging us down with them into the depths of Hell.
We used to light candles inside turnips carved into grimacing faces (the original “jack-o-lantern”), hide our faces behind masks of animals and demons with pointed chins, and dance around large bonfires that drove away the darkness of the night.
Today, we cover our eyes with a soft fabric mask, stretch our legs all the way behind our heads, and dance around a flaming martini. It’s Halloween for grown-ups, too, and we’ve got a full schedule of parties.
The EYES WIDE SHUT party at MARCUS

The ultra-chic Four Seasons Hotel Montreal is hosting a black-and-white masquerade ball for Halloween, with a touch of surrealism and plenty of mystery. And behind a satin mask, all sorts of things can happen…
The masquerade ball at MARCUS is first and foremost a dinner (at $125 per person), conceived by the excellent chef Jason Morris and featuring the thrill of mystery that comes with being “FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.” Black, white, the glances behind the (mandatory) masks, and the dessert created just for the occasion—the Black Velvet—will make the evening a transcendental experience.

You can also just head to the party in MARCUS’s dimly lit “mid-century” lounge to dance to the sounds of Pat Boogie, The Neighbors, Francisco, Peter C, and Luca Martino.

The dress code is simple and very chic—black and white—and a mask is required. We take our inspiration from Truman Capote’s famous “Black and White Ball” at the Plaza, like this, for example;

The ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Ball

From October 29 to October 31, 2026, there will be six performances of the city’s only ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW at two iconic theaters in Montreal.
It’s called the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW HALLOWEEN BALL. There will be a screening of the film, massive audience participation (including dancing the “Time Warp”), a master of ceremonies to guide the evening, and a live band on stage.
There will also be a costume contest—and it’s a competition to see who can pull off Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s corset and sapphire-colored eyeshadow best.
THE BIMBO CULT CLASSIC PARTY

A night of pop “scream queens” in an abandoned movie studio, featuring the most iconic artists and DJs from the house-pop scene? It’d be silly to miss out, and we’re almost certain you’ll survive it.

The VAMPIRE BALL at Bowie’s

The tiny Bowie club, decked out in dark velvet and mirrors, is hosting a Halloween party that’s a little sexy and a little trendy with a “VAMPIRE BALL.”
Costumes are recommended, and a friend willing to buy us a martini is also recommended. For vampires, luxury lasts until the very end of the night.
Hilal Ghanem will be on the turntables, and you can book your spot here
The SPECTRE Party at Dalhousie Station

For those who are afraid of clowns but love spider-women, Cirque Éloize is hosting a Halloween party with music, screenings, and circus acts (of course).
