It’s winter and the home stretch to the holiday season, and we’re absolutely swamped in Montreal-because we want to knit our scarves, make our holiday gifts, visit all the Christmas markets and check out all the trees in town?
And we need a cosy evening, to watch a film while chatting with our friends and to take the time to put our hands in the ceramics to create the mug in which we’ll be drinking our hot chocolates and teas this winter.
For this, we’ve found the ultimate holiday workshop: Monokiini’s special Sip & Clay workshop for the season, with a screening of The Holiday.
Sip & Clay, Monokiini and The Holiday
The Sip & Clay workshops of handmade ceramics brand MONOKIINI offer an evening that’s part film and gossip night with friends, part technical pottery class.
We’ve got two hours to shape and paint our creations, and the workshop is long enough for us to take our time, and to catch up on each other’s news and current gossip – with a big plus, because we can also concentrate on our work and listen to each other’s gossip.
At the end of the workshop, we leave our creations – which will be air-dried, then fired, glazed and annealed, like real pieces of crockery. They won’t crumble in the dishwasher, and we can keep them for (hopefully) ever. We’ll pick them up in 4 to 6 weeks.
In December, the Sip & Clay workshop is married with the film The Holiday, a great classic of the holiday season, overworked city dwellers and the crazy romanticism of the season…
Like Cameron Diaz, we’ll be nibbling on a charcuterie board and having a drink for some well-deserved self-care (meeting Jude Law is not guaranteed in the ticket price, unfortunately).
Like Kate Winslet, we’re going to step out of our comfort zone and try something new, something artistic and exciting that we can be proud of!
And isn’t that the best way for us to celebrate the holiday season?
