In Montreal, we’re very busy, and sometimes it’s hard to slow down for a moment, to take the time to relax and stare into space, to take care of ourselves – only to leave with renewed energy and a little softer skin.
It’s spring, and frankly, that’s all the excuse we need to make a list of the best spas in Montreal. We’re already dreaming of fluffy robes, icy baths and scorching saunas…
1 Bota-bota, spa on the water
Open year-round, Bota-bota is one of Montreal’s must-see spas, and a must in the Old Port.
It’s a boat spa, and with the wind off the river, you can relax as if you were out of town.
Our favorite is the 3-hour water circuit, where we wander between hot and cold baths, lounging on the couches in the relaxation areas.
And in summer, an outdoor pool lets us lounge with a cocktail. Perfect relaxation.
Where? McGillentrance and rue de la Commune O, Montreal
2.scandinave spa
For an almost silent retreat in calm and luxury, go to Scandinave spa Vieux-Port.
With its subdued ambience, this spa is all about reflection and solitude. With immersive facilities and treatments that promote silence, you can recharge your batteries before you start talking and running around again!
Where? 71 rue de la Commune O, Montreal
3.Strom Nordic spa
For a change of scenery and the ambiance of a road-trip through the countryside, head to Strom spa nordique on Nun’s Island.
It’s a semi-urban oasis perfect for a day’s getaway, and only minutes from downtown.
Where? 1001 boul. de la Forêt, Verdun
4.Spa St-James
For those who prefer self-care and want to be pampered in the heart of the city, we recommend Spa St.James.
Absolutely glamorous, it‘s the spa of the Ritz Carlton hotel, and focuses more on facials, body treatments and beauty treatments. We go there before a wedding (the season is fast approaching), to refresh the skin after winter or to treat ourselves without needing a reason.
Where? 1228 Rue Sherbrooke O, Montreal
5A little further…
If you have a little more time and need to get away from the city physically – in addition to the psychic journey of a visit to the spa – to recharge your batteries, we also have several suggestions: Balnea, just outside Bromont, Polar, nestled on the edge of a lake near St-Sauveur, the magnificent Spa Eastman, an oasis in the Eastern Townships, and of course the Scandinave spa at Mont-Tremblant.
Balnea : about 1 hour’s drive from Montreal
Polar Bear’s Club: approx. 1h drive from Montreal
Spa Eastman : about 1h15 drive from Montreal
Scandinave spa Tremblant : approx. 1h45 drive from Montreal
Good relaxation!
