Autumn is a season of romance. The weather’s still fine, but we can get very close on a cool breeze, talk to each other up close in the city’s coziest cafés and stroll hand in hand through the forest.
As the (working) year has just begun, we’ve been able to meet lots of eligible singles in Montreal at Cathcart parties, bars and trivia nights in the city’s coolest spots.
What’s more, it’s“cuffing season” – the season when we pair up to keep warm all winter long – and to cement our autumn romances, we have the most incredibly sweet weekends to recommend…
1 Le Germain de Charlevoix
Le Germain de Charlevoix has an ultra-luxe farmhouse aura with hairy cows, river views on one side and views of the region’s sublime mountains on the other.
What’s more, the spa (with outdoor pools and a sauna with a view) is renowned for its romance, cucumber water and absolute luxury.
You can walk to the river or to the village of Baie Saint-Paul for dinner, go hiking in the mountains during the day or just hang out at the hotel…
Where? 50 Rue de la Ferme, Baie-Saint-Paul (3h50 drive from downtown Montreal)
Price? Room rates start at $255/night (for a room for two, at the time of writing).
2 Hôtel Capitole de Québec
Right in the center of Old Quebec (one of the region’s most romantic spots, although we also love Old Montreal, of course) and very luxurious, this is a hotel for lovers who like to stroll around town.
There’s a spa, exceptional city views and an Italian restaurant downstairs – Il Teatro.
Where? 972 rue Saint-Jean, Quebec City (2h50 drive from downtown Montreal)
Price? Room rates start at $560/night (for a room for two, at the time of writing).
3 – Lac Beauport’s Maëlstrom Mountain
For couples who love nature, Maelström Mountain in Lac-Beauport is a destination of choice.
You can rent a Scandinavian-inspired mini-chalet, like the Lagöm, for total immersion in a natural setting.
The area is ideal for long walks in the forest and cuddling up on a terrace with an incredible view of the forest.
Where? 38 Chemin de la Passerelle, Lac-Beauport
Price? the cottage is between $165 and $400/night, depending on the cottage rented (at the time of writing).
4 Le Bel-Air Tremblant at Mont-Tremblant
To sleep under the stars without the inconvenience of camping (we’ll camp in the spring, when we know each other a little better), you can rent a dome or pod at Bel-Air Tremblant.
These little chalets are ultra-luxe, possibly with a private spa – the height of romance.
There are also plenty of walks and outdoor activities to do, a bistro and, not far away, the magical village of Mont-Tremblant to visit.
Where? 200 Chemin des Pimbinas, La Conception (2h drive from downtown Montreal)
Price? Rentals start at $630/night (for a classic pod, at the time of writing).
Have a nice romantic weekend!
