When talking about Montreal to those who haven’t been there yet, or when looking for videos of the city and its many influencers (now called content creators), one neighborhood always stands out for its cool factor: the Plateau-Mont-Royal.
It’s a neighborhood that’s literally situated on a plateau (a flat stretch of land) on the eastern slope of Mount Royal. It’s the neighborhood of artists, theaters,French expats, and musicians.
Our favorite spots for those who have an afternoon to spend on the Plateau are here…
A bookstore: De Stiil Books

This English-language bookstore is for artists,it girls, andthose seeking inspiration for their next project. You’ll find art books, a highly curated selection of literary fiction, and beautiful books on design and fashion.
A record store: aux 33 Tours

Aux 33 Tours / the vinyl temple of Montreal’s very cool Plateau and one of the city’s largest record stores. They have everything, new and old—punk, vintage Elvis, classical music, and lots of indie.

A restaurant: Le Jardin de Panos

This old-school family-run Greek restaurant has the best moussaka in Montreal, a heartwarming atmosphere, and the city’s most beautiful terrace in the summer. It’s perfect if you have a large group of friends that you can’t seem to seat anywhere downtown.
Actually, this spot is practically a secret, so we only tell the nicest people we know about it.
A vintage shop: Prelude Vintage

This tiny vintage shop has a very trendy selection of simple pieces at great prices and overlooks Duluth Avenue, which is lined with red brick buildings and tall trees.
The shop also features pieces by local artisans and designers.
A classic:St-Viateur Bagel & Café

Montreal’s iconic bagel is a must-try for those who take to heart the title of“world’s best bagel,” whichis hotly contested between Montreal and New York delis.
For everyone else, it’s just a really, really good bagel—to be enjoyed with a large black coffee, and at the Plateau location there’s a terrace where you can dip your bagel in cream cheese while reading a book.
