On June 11, 2026, the music and culture television channel MusiquePlus rises from the ashes in Quebec—but this time, it will be on TikTok.
MusiquePlus Generation
MusiquePlus (known as MuchMusic in English, which was relaunched on TikTok in 2021 as well) is the Quebec version of the American MTV—a music TV channel in tune with pop culture, with what’s cool, young, and new. It was through MusiquePlus that we discovered our favorite music, selected by VJs (Video Jockeys) who were elevated to the status of tastemakers.
MusiquePlus, launched in 1986, was the first French-language video television program in Quebec—featuring music videos, reports, shows, interviews, and performances. Very quickly, the channel became a cult favorite, representing the Quebec music scene, as ubiquitous as a jingle in the minds of Quebecers.
The channel had its heyday in the late ’90s and early 2000s—the golden age of music videos—and launched and supported the careers of many Quebec artists and musicians, in addition to being dearly loved by the entire province.
But all good things must come to an end, and with the arrival of the internet, then social media, and a global shift away from television, MusiquePlus closed its doors in 2019.
We’re mourning the end of an era, and the question of MusiquePlus’s archives arises—where are they? Who has access to them? MusiquePlus and its archives are in the hands of Remstar Media.

The Montreal-based production company Attraction, in collaboration with Remstar Media and with the support of Motion Entertainment (WPP Media), is spearheading MusiquePlus’s return to TikTok.
We’re not quite sure yet what this new MusiquePlus channel will look like, but we can’t wait to dive back in, if only for the intense nostalgia of a simpler time.
