Montreal in the summer is a bit like an open-air playground—because we’d rather die than spend a warm evening cooped up indoors. After a winter of mandatory hibernation, Montrealers live outdoors, in the sunshine, during the warmer months.
In winter, dinners are long in restaurants with fogged-up windows and the warmth of chairs upholstered in velvet or flannel. In summer, we want to eat outdoors, but that doesn’t mean the city forgets its status as a global culinary hub.
This weekend, we’re going to eat outdoors —and standing up—with the sun in our eyes and the river breeze in our hair, and it’s going to be divine.
Street food, chefs, and the whole world at the Quai de l’Horloge
The Streetfood Festival lasts four days and takes place on the Quai de l’Horloge, at the end of Montreal’s Old Port—from July 16 to 19, 2026.
There will be 50 food stalls—50 of the city’s best chefs and restaurants—and a variety of international street food classics from 25 countries. There will be Korean corn dogs , BBQ pork skewers from Manila, Colombian arepas con queso , Argentine grilled meat…
Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, Manila, Portugal—and Quebec poutine: dishes will start at $10 or less. We’re going to have a little potluck with tiny chef-created dishes—a modern take on those elementary school potlucks where everyone had to bring a dish from their home country.
Plus, the opening night of the Streetfood Festival coincides with a fireworks display by the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Festival, which will begin at 10 p.m. And at the Quai de l’Horloge, you’ll find one of the city’s most beautiful views of the river, over which China’s show, “One World, an Infinity of Sparks,” will take place.
