The October full moon will be high in the Montreal sky on October 26, 2026, at 12:12 p.m. EST. Just before the Halloween festival, when the veil between the world of the dead and the living is at its thinnest, and with an incredibly esoteric numerological symmetry, it is the Hunter’s Moon.
So, you’ll need to go outside late on Sunday, October 25, and look up at the sky a little after midnight to see October’s full moon in the Montreal sky.

THE HUNTER’S FULL MOON
October’s Hunter’s Moon follows September’s full moon, which is traditionally called the “Harvest Moon.” After the harvests, hunters would fill their pantries with the meat of deer and other woodland animals fattened by a long, bountiful summer.
It’s also because the leaves have fallen, and animals can no longer hide behind the bushes—they’re easier to hunt. This is the season when people used to preserve and dry meat for the long winter.
Among the Indigenous nations of North America, this full moon is called;
- Drying Rice Moon (Cree)
- Falling Leaves Moon (Anishinaabe)
- Freezing Moon, Ice Moon / Lune des Glaces (Ojibwe, Haida)
- Migrating Moon / Moon of Migrations (Cree)

AND THE MONTH OF OCTOBER IS ESOTERIC
This year, the new moon in October (following the full moon in September) is on October 10. When written out, the date is 10/10, and for astrologers, this date will serve as a portal.
Venus is in retrograde this October, which means we’ll probably get a text from an ex we’d almost managed to forget.
For a bit of practical terror (serial killers, killer clowns, haunted mazes, horror movies), we recommend spending the month getting your heart racing with our Halloween calendar.
